RACHEL KOOYMAN, CHA

Rachel has  worked in the hospitality field for over 15 years. She is an energetic,  charismatic individual with a passion for helping people. Well  organized, outgoing and always eager to help, Rachel is very excited to  share her experiences with those who require it.
Born and raised in  South Western Ontario, Rachel attended Fanshawe College and received a  diploma in Tourism and Travel. She believed she would end up working in  the airline industry before falling into her passion of working in  Hotels. She has spent time working for properties in London and  Brantford before moving to Ottawa in 2010.

Currently  Rachel is the Hotel Manager at the Best Western Plus Ottawa Downtown  Suites, a downtown limited service hotel where she runs the daily  operation of the 123 room property and has led them to be ranked in the  top 5 on Tripadvisor and has received a 4 green key rating with the  Hotel Association of Canada. Rachel is a Certified Hotel Administrator  (CHA) and believes in constantly upgrading education to stay on top of  industry knowledge. She is focused on providing exceptional customer  service to guests while supporting staff and keeping the property up to  date with today's ever changing standards.

Along  with the day to day operations of the Best Western hotel, Rachel is  involved in the management of two independent hotels along side  experienced professionals.

Volunteering  and community involvement is an important part of a well rounded  career. Rachel is extremely involved with the Kiwanis Club of Ottawa and  is currently serving a 2 year term on the Board of Directors for the  Club. She is the Vice-Chair for the Ontario/Quebec Co-op with Best  Western Hotel and Resorts and recently Rachel has joined an advisory  committee for a local college where she has the opportunity to mentor  students who have the same passion for hospitality that she has.
